'The Death of Phoenix' Published Portfolio Plate #6 Pinup (Byrne pencils 1992, Perez Inked 2004)

John Byrne and George Perez - Cyclops/Phoenix Pin Up Original Art (1992-2004). John Byrne and George Perez recreate the dramatic "death" of Phoenix, from the classic X-Men #137. Like a similar piece auctioned by Heritage in October 2004, this completely original piece of artwork was penciled in 1992 by John Byrne for the X-Men Portfolio produced by Editions Deesse. The page has a number "6" penciled on the back, leading to believe this was plate six in the portfolio. The John Byrne pencils were later inked over in 2004 by George Perez. A phenomenal piece with the vintage feel of Byrne's pencils, and amazing detail provided by the Perez inks. The image area measures 10.25" x 15.5", and is in Excellent condition. One of only a handful of works by Byrne and Perez featuring the X-Men.
