Description...Ahhh at long last this is my very first Amazing Spider-Man cover..and to Web one of this magnitude is well..a Spectacular achievement for me..and apparently this is the first time this cover has exchanged hands in 40yrs! ..I exchanged a lot to be able to get this and for me to be able to own a Super early Punisher appearance with it..His Third cover appearance ever...What a memorable cover! With the Punisher front and center we look at this cover and know exactly who and what the Punisher is..how bad ass and dangerous he is, even to super-powered Heroes..The Punisher has long been one of my favorite character and so to snag one of his earliest appearances on such a dynamic cover..This is a special piece for me and as I see it an early part of Punisher’s Marvel history and introduction to the world. I love the design of the cover with Nightcrawler and Spidey almost in a precursor sort of set up to the eventual Marvel Team-up series..What else can I say but when I saw this cover become available I said ok now this is special I need to do whatever I can to get this one and make this a key Amazing Artifact for my collection..So I’m so happy to share and present this cover to my fellow collectors. 🕷 💀 😈Social/Sharing |

Wow, where to even begin. I guess congratulations to start. Just an amazing cover from a fondly remembered issue. Just seems like yesterday my 10 year self was buying this at the Army PX. I have always wondered the breakdown of contribution from both Ross and John on this issue, but both do a fantastic job. I've researched Ross Andru's real life references extensively the last two years and can say he masterfully recreated NYC, specifically here as well with the Queensboro Bridge and the Roosevelt Island Tram, featured predominantly in Issues 161 and 162. Again, congrats for obtaining this wonderful cover and thanks for sharing it with us mere mortals.

Great cover! I remember buying this off the stands. Regardless of the artist, I always felt this is one of the top five Spidey covers of all times. Plus your story and burning desire to get this make the conquest that much more special. I've been there before---I know the feeling. HUGE congrats!

Super memorable cover - I have 2 copies of this issue, unusual for me, but always thought it was a key book from 1970s ASM. Congrats!

Thanks Mark yea it def has that key issue feel to it it seems to catch everyone eye and we'll key for us fans and an early punisher appearance at that anyhow similar to how all the early green goblin appearances are considered key we could say that about the Punisher as well .

Lots to love about this Amazing Spider-Man cover! Three top characters--Spidey, Nightcrawler and, of course, the Punisher! All in great poses! Plus the very detailed background of the Roosevelt Island Tram and the Queensboro Bridge. All adds up to a terrific ASM cover!

Dude. I don't often play in the Marvel sandbox (and certainly not ASM covers). But on this one, I gathered my resources and bid mightily but still dropped out WAY before you were done bidding this up higher... I didn't even get close to the final hammer. Congrats on perservering!
Its an image composition which has so much story in it and three ideal character poses. And the tram! And the bridge! Many kudos to you! It's one for the ages.

Thx for the Kudis and for sharing your side of the story..very cool. Yea well I was prepar9ng for but surprised at just how much the bidding kept going and yet I was in and a few times thought is this crazy and then as you said it's a piece that has everything ideal poses great art art major characters it's rare that a spidey cover with these qualities comes up for auction so yea here we are glad I was able to make it happen... 😈💀🕷

Can't believe it's taken me this long to notice this cover was here. Big congrats! One I hadn't seen. I first bought this book in the early 80's becuase of the X-Men appearance, but then re-dicovered it after the Punisher Limited Series. A classic!
