Description

Update: Saturday 15th of April, I met Garth Ennis at Paris Fan Festival 2023 & asked him to sign this page (and my books).

For me, this is the quintessential The Boys page. When I think the Boys, I think a satirical parody on the superhero genre, twisting conventions and confronting the reader with his/her expectations. Show this page to someone out of context, and they might think: oh, what a nice superhero!

Of course, this splash shows the very demonic, yet popular Homelander in a "Belief" themed propaganda video, created by Vought International. Lovely how even back then, Ennis played with the subversion of expectations in the genre - before the popular tv series on Amazon made it all the more well-known all over the world.

I see this page as a set with my other Homelander piece, having been done by co-creator Darick Robertson. This one is of course done by longtime The Boys artist Russ Braun. That smirk and face is just synonymous with Homelander and instantly recognizable.

The white space underneath was filled by the title of the story arc, by the way, since this is also the title splash. At the top, it is also signed by Braun.
