Description

"There's bath already prepared. Seems a shame to let it go to waste."

During Cadence Comic's recent sale to celebrate the announcement of King Conan #1, this beauty of a page immediately stood out to me - and it helped that I was rather fast on the draw.

To me, this piece evokes that iconic Savage Sword of Conan-kind of vibe, with Mahmud Asrar blending an always impressively muscular Conan greatly and the beautiful & sensual. And these women aren't your usual damsels in distress, either! I don't even mind this page does not have any of that classic sword and sandals action.

While I'm still going through the Cimmerian Barbarian's bibliography, Jason Aaron & Mahmud Asrar's recent relaunch at Marvel was quickly on my radar. I have a friend who wouldn't appreciate me missing out on that. But of course, with Aaron & Asrar on the title, it's not like it's a task.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mahmud a couple of years ago in Belgium (when he did a free Jean Grey for me) and then some time ago in Paris, when conventions were still a thing. That very pleasant personal experience helped seal the deal.

These are original pencils and inks on the usual 11x17 Marvel board.

Who needs swords and sandals action? This page is as raw and as intense as any in the saga with Conan outnumbered once more.
