Description

New commission, from artist Craig Shepard. I've had an idea for a while to do something with the "original design" versions of Superman (from Action #1), Wonder Woman (from Harry G Peter's initial sketches, when she was probably still known as "Suprema, the Wonder Woman"), and Batman (the designs Bob Kane *allegedly* had for the "Bat-Man" character before Bill Finger got involved and gave us the iconic look, though I recognise that there has never been any actual Kane artwork showing this, and what does exist are recreations).

At one point I was going to use this idea for the 1994 All-Star Squadron annual (all the DC annuals that year were Elseworld tales) but I'm not sure whether I'll get that far with my Continuation Project, and to be fair if I do I've had an alternative idea which I think will work better -- so I decided to do this as a standalone piece instead. I saw Craig's work elsewhere, and as part of his ongoing "100 Supermen" project he'd posted a version of the Kryptonian in his earliest costume - and luckily he was happy to do something similar for me with all three characters.

The "Elseworld's Finest" logo just seemed to work here - and while I don't often get coloured versions of my commissions, this one seemed as though it would work well in colour (added in Additional Images).
