Description
A nice Olivier Coipel page from what I believe is his overlooked Avengers short stint.

It follows up directly on the previous page which I also own.

The force of the impact on Cap’s shield is excellent in the first panel. The woman’s body language really enhances it with her leg twisted and losing its shoes.

In fact, the impact was so forceful that Cap’s shield is on fire in the following panel.

But despite being obviously overpowered, she defiantly gets back up with the shield in hands in the third one. Again, her body position is perfect.

The overpowering is also enhanced in the 4th panel by the angle Olivier choose to have Thunderball standing over her. His dangerosity is greatly underlined with half is covered in shadows.

Same goes for the close up on his pupil-less face which looks inhuman.

Great work by Olivier on a seemingly quiet page and apt inks by Andy Lanning.

Last but not least, I really enjoyed the battle of quotations between the characters, especially as I always considered that the wrecking crew members were basically glorified and super powered garbage men.

Coipel definitely is a great storyteller and I think sometimes that gets overlooked by his also great pure illustration chops.  Very fine example here of both!  Congrats!

Another beautiful addition to your gallery from this (I agree with you) underrated run.  Man - what great storytelling...  He really had it all right from the very start, didn’t he?  Terrific page - congrats!
