12.5x13.25" Crescent board features oil painting original art depicting Sauron from J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord Of The Rings saga. Sauron is depicted seated upon his throne, the back of which bears Black Speech in gold lettering. Art was commissioned in 1979 by Stephen Hickman, an artist, illustrator, sculptor and author best known for his work in sci-fi and fantasy, w/over 350 books and magazine covers to his credit. His works illustrated the stories of Robert A. Heinlein, H.P. Lovecraft, J.R.R. Tolkien, Anne McCaffrey, and Andre Norton. Hickman's initials and date appear in gold at lower left. Exc. and ready for framing.
