Description

It's not the usual pulp hero associated with Kaluta.

But Zorro is an even older character than the Shadow.

And Zorro's been a bigger star of the small and silver screens.

It's no surprise to finally see Kaluta turning his talents to Zorro. I really like this mix of pencil at the top and ink at the bottom.

I love the iconic Z formed by a trail of flying demons or whatever they are.

American Mythology published Zorro: Sacrilege in 2019 to kick off a few mini-series to mark 100 years of Zorro !! This art was used for the "main" cover. And one of the variant covers (limited to 100 copies)... with a $29.99 cover price... ugh... that's a scan of my personal copy.

Thanks, Mitch !!

Zorro was created by Johnston McCulley.

Really love this.  Especially the penciled portion at the top.  As usual, the printing process does such a disservice to the original.  Good job snagging this from Mitch.  And thanks for reminding me I still don't have a nice Kaluta example.

Wonderful Kaluta cover! This is a stunning vision of Zorro, love the tiny demons/fairies flying in front of him and forming a Z. The portrait of the woman behind his is stunning. Great pick-up!

Oddly I love zorro but have problems reading Johnston McCulley who created him on zorro (worse yet a friend is selling off a lot of his pulps with Zorro) but this is a beautiful examples of the romance intrinsic t othe character and Kaluta captures that turn of the century illustration style common when the character first appeared- it is a like 1916 Argosy painting done in line!
