Description...And just like that, any hope our heroes had to go on the offensive against The Builders is extinguished (or set aflame, more accurately).(Page two of the two-page sequence I'm posting today) (Love the “FLIP” instructions above the top panel, to match the hand the Builder is using when the POV changes in panel 2.) All evidence of Leinil's mastery of comic storytelling is readily apparent on these two pages - his compositional strengths, his detailed renderings, his kick-ass space bugs... More beautiful work by Leinil from an intense ‘Infinity’ moment in Jonathan Hickman’s epic ‘Avengers’ run. Beautiful shot of Annihilus, too. Thank you again, Kwan! Social/Sharing |

Lenil's pencils are a master class in tone and texture. Really need to work on getting him represented in my new Philippine gallery room. A shout out to my man Kwan. He's an absolute maniac and one of the coolest guys in the hobby. Anyway, nice page buddy. Congrats!

I actually abhor insects of all kinds, tiny or large, it doesn't matter. So I've honestly never been all that comfortable with comics that feature giant insect swarms, especially since they are drawn large enough to see the same details we see when shown under magnification. But that aside, the delicate pencil lines are really nice and I especially like the parts he added shading to. Annihilus looks as good as he ever has. Congrats on adding this creepy sequence to your collection, Jason!

Love all the buggy goodness! That second panel headshot might be my fave - love the shadow done via pencil. Wait! Maybe that final full Annihilus shot. I can't decide! Ain't it great :) Congrats, man!

So much dense pencil work that you'd have to use a magnifying glass to catch everything. That may be a bad thing if you've fried some bugs under the sun with it.

I don't think there's one straight line on that page, and it looks so good. I wonder if he works from a layout, because his scenes seem so organic, it almost feels freeform. There's a dream-like quality to his scenes and the way he draws them, imo. And floating the panels, and then floating a character above those panels, is a great choice. The page has so much depth. Great score. Congrats!

I'm a sucker for outreached hands in OA pages. There's an automatic dramatic effect which comes from it, and in superhero books it is particularly flashy since most characters have powers.
Here we get TWO panels of hands! Brought to you by wonderful Yu line work. Very cool.
