Description

Sketch by KEN NIIMURA made in November 2014 at AmadoraBD, Amadora’s comics festival, Portugal.
A4 size (8.3in x 11.7in)

Ken was present at AmadoraBD a little bit thanks to me. A Portuguese publisher announced it was publishing I KILL GIANTS and presenting it at the festival. His HENSHIN book was going to be published in Spain and he would attend a comics event to present it. The Spanish event was just a week before the Portuguese one and I immediately talked with him saying that if he could postpone his departure to Japan, there was a chance for him to be invited to the festival. He told me the dates were already closed. Nevertheless, I told the published that Ken was going to be in Spain and if they could negotiate another date for him to go back to Japan, he was interested in coming to Portugal.
Not even a month later, he confirmed he was coming and that’s where I got this drawing. I asked to draw whatever he wanted. I also had the opportunity to interview him for a comics news page that no longer exists and he was kind enough to offer me some fanzines he did.
He’s a really, really nice guy and very generous with his time.
