DescriptionAs an avid fan of both Film Noir and Crime Fiction, I fell in love with this image immediately after seeing it printed in 'The Art of DANIEL TORRES'. I've been a longtime fan of his work, but finding OA examples of his work, on North American shores, has been a real rarity.. I won this beauty at the recent Heritage Auction of Int'l Comic Art. The illustration was published in the December '89 of PLAYBOY, to accompany excerpts of Mickey Spillane's 12th MIKE HAMMER novel: "The Killing Man"..Social/Sharing |

Such a great example!
Can't disagree. Loved it since first seeing it in 'The Art of DANIEL TORRES' book.. One of Darwyn's favorite artists, too!

Killer illustration! Love the colors! The light color of the raincoat sets off beautifully against the dark blue sky. I love the classic 1960s cars in the street and the pale slender Empire State Building. This one's a keeper, my friend. But I think you know that.

Thanks, Bill! Yeah, I first became a fan of Torres thru his ROCCO VARGAS strip in Heavy Metal magazine. But this is an iconic illustration of his, that was featured in 'The Art of DANIEL TORRES' book; published by NORMA Editorial, in 1995. "Keeper?.."It's the first OA, I've ever made the effort to have professionally framed. So, there's your answer! haha
