This painting was inspired by the Magic card "Edgar Markov" a very nasty vampire from MTG lore. I always loved the painting by Volkan Baga and I always wanted a holy paladin type of piece in my collection so I imagined who he might be preparing to battle and dreamed up this Phoenix Order that hunts vampires. Their champion, Antonia Dumitru, is resurrected every time she falls in battle, and her order hides her until she comes of age to do battle once more.
