Description

Another amazing find that I got during same time as the Brotherhood sketch lineup were these two Wolverine pencil art from X-Men opening title sequence. One X-treme closeup on face as he first appears and one closeup as his claws are about to pop out.

Seeing the original art in person and having a few pieces in my collection to represent my love for this X-ceptional series is truly a huge blessing. I really enjoy seeing the details up close on this art as you can see the lines used to indicate lights and shadows, seen as a direct correlation in the final product for the produced animation.

In studying the animation in the title sequence you can also see they used a lot of static images with camera moves on them and a few transitional frames when needed to get some movement, making some of these sketches and original art all that more unique as there are so much fewer needed to make minute long opening action title sequence.

Being a lifelong fan of anything X and bringing home something I’ve probably seen hundreds of times growing up brings a lot of nostalgic joy and X-cited to share on here with others that may get some of the same feels.

Such a killer piece with amazing detail! The number on the cel is circled so it was animated by senior staff, very cool! Comes right before my cel with the claws popping out, congrats!

Awesome opening title sketch. I use to own a cel from the same scene with Wolverine's claws partially out. This makes me miss regret selling it. :o(
