DescriptionVariant cover (B) for the 1st issue of the excellent BOOM Planet of the Apes series.Featuring Sulivan, Alaya, Zaius, Bako and Nix. Pencils by Carlos Magno, with inks done digitally, so this is the only original art for this cover. Published in 2011. (I heard Marvel will be publishing Planet of the Apes starting in 2023, so perhaps there will be some renewed interest in this series). Social/Sharing |

Boom did a nice job with the Planet of the Apes license, and Magno is a very underrated artist who I think may finally be getting his due over at Marvel. Really nice cover here.

Very nice! Seems to be anch the Apes series over into Sword and Sandal adventure. I like how the orangutan in the center (Dr. Zaius?) is drawn with expressive detail to look quite wise, and how the bearing of either woman flanking him is a discouragement from messing with her. Congrats!

He was the first Ape ever to set foot on this earth.
He was a genius from the day of his birth.
He could find Carlos Magno for an easy art sell
And ev'rybody screamed:
Come on, rock me Doctor Zaius.
He was a superstar, Boom! not dynamite and what pencils he did (it)
Seemed to be alright.
And he drew (and) it burst and he's upper bound
But then the humans would shout:
Rock me Doctor Zaius,
Magno's Zaius, Magno's Zaius, Magno's Zaius,
Magno's Zaius, Magno's Zaius, Doctor Zaius,
Oh oh oh Magno's Zaius.

It's an honor sir. :)
And if anyone ever says Falco was just a one-hit wonder, we can always mention "Der Kommissar" . LOL.
