DescriptionI finally got myself a Brian Murray page from Young All-Stars! And what a page. We have most of the entire team featured on this page, with the exception of Tsunami, though we do get Sandy, as well as members of Axis Amerika. What a fun series. When I was younger, I was there for only back issues of All-Star Squadron, and the last half or so of Infinity Inc, but I was on board for the entirety of the Young All-Star run. Since Crisis on Infinite Earths, I was always a huge fan of the Golden Age heroes. Really enjoyed this series. Now that DC has brought back the JSA and Infinity Inc to it's history (and maybe the All-Star Squadron?), I am really hoping they will bring back these guys. I'm dying for a WWII era All-Star book featuring the JSA, All-Star Squadron, and Young-All Stars. C'mon DC! Issue 6 also had one of my favorite covers of the entire series, so much so that I own one of the 4 CGC 9.8 graded copies.....such a nerd. Social/Sharing |

As a kid, I always loved the look of the JSA and All-Star Squadron characters, but didn't have enough money for them to ever make it onto my buy list. As I got older and began to work part time, I was really excited to see the Brian Murray cover to the 1st issue of Young All-Stars, so I bought it and it became the first time I ever read stories of the DC Golden Age heroes, aside from some guest appearances here and there. While I don't remember a thing about it now, I do remember really enjoying this series.
I never did get back issues of All-Star Squadron (Where are the trades, DC?!) and never again touched the DC Golden Age heroes. That is, until this past year when on a friend's recommendation I ordered the first 4 current trades of the JSA series by Geoff Johns and the first 2 Hawkman trades. I'm currently only on trade Volume 2, and am really enjoying it! Anyway, great to see this page, it brings back good memories. I remember loving Tsunami though, so it's sad she's not on this page, but that's not a complaint!

Oh man, the Murray covers for YAS were just so good. And issue one being an homage to the various Superman covers with him breaking through chains was awesome.I too wish Tsunami was on this page as well. I really liked her and her design. There's a cool Who's Who page with her on Heritage that I have made offers on a couple times to no avail : )
Right!? Yet another series that DC has never put into trade format. I wish they would do trade of All-Star Squadron, Infinity Inc., and Young All-Stars. Maybe someday?

Really nice splashy page. And I'm with you on wondering where all of the Giffen Legion Five Years Later art is.
