There's really no way hiding in a well would have saved Balin and Ceri -- the oxygen would have been sucked right out, as the castle burned.

The editor, writer, or maybe the letterer did notice one change I suggested and used it. Originally, the script had Balin claim victory for everything (he still does), despite Ceri being the one to kill the evil "Unseen Knight", Garlon -- in the script, Ceri didn't speak up, which, for someone who'd just rammed a dagger into the throat of her brother's killer... seemed a bit meek.
