DescriptionI am very saddened by JP's passing. He was truly an artist's artist, a humble and quiet man who deserved to be known by more collectors. Rest in peace, JP, it was a pleasure to meet you.Social/Sharing |

Just concepting a piece like this is mind boggling, then executing it is plain astounding. JPL, under appreciated but definitely left his mark. Such a talent…

Agree, possible the most underappreciated comic artist I know. When I first bought art from him in 2016, he would only charge for his art what newbie artists would already charge on their first gig!

He was definitely under apprecated. Cool cover and I like that Jp was using more mixed media in his covers the last few years. THanks for posting RIP JP

Thanks Matt! This work reminds me a little bit of the line of Alex Toth with the multi-layer art style of Sienkiewicz or even Sergio Toppi.

Awesome cover, cool layout! John Paul was an artist who loved to be as accurate as possible with references, and it really shines here.
A cool David Harper SKTCHD podcast interview with JPL from 2016 in case anyone missed it:

Very nice and impressive cover art. Awesome pick up by you also. I would love to see his Winter Men printed as an Artist Edition from IDW.
RIP, John Paul Leon.

Strong stylized movie poster feel, and that's a great thing. So many artistic techniques on display with this one piece. Congrats, and RIP JPL.
