DescriptionA wonderfully "simple", clean head sketch in the beautiful, classic style of Mark Bagley. It's a good size (9x12) and reminds me of the Steve Ditko cornerbox Spidey that adorned the covers of the Ditko run (and beyond). Everything I wanted in a Bagley Spidey sketch.Social/Sharing |

Simple but sweet. Bagley has gone down as one of the all-time classic Spider-Man artists. A must have for any Spidey collector!

Nice slender Spidey indicating that he's still a kid and hasn't really become a square jawed hero yet. Probably the most exciting part of a hero's journey.

Thanks, Marcus, and you're exactly right - indeed, it was the look of this young Spidey that drew me to it, as it most-resembled Peter/Spidey from the Ultimate Spider-Man run (which is still my favorite of the Bagley Spider-Work). Thanks for the comments, all!

In our current over-inflated hobby/market, I find your genuine enthusiasm for a "simple" head sketch so refreshing. I share it (and still own many similar pieces from my early days of collecting).
Bagley really left his mark on Spidey and this is a fun example. As much as I love his art, I should try to obtain a published Bagley Spidey page with Spidey on it myself (which will likely come from his Ultimate effort given current prices).

Agreed, Marcus. Spidey's youth is front and center. Striking the excess lines for simplicity strips the years away, too. Bagely, but Ditko, too. Very cool, Jason. Congrats!
