Description

This rare promo comic for Twisted Metal 2 reveals a canon origin story for Calypso, the infamous villain of Twisted Metal. Notably, the comic features a depiction of the World Trade Center's destruction, occurring five years prior to the actual event. As a result of its limited print run, the book holds significant value among comic collectors, with only 100 initial copies produced. Several were distributed as prizes for a magazine contest, and unfortunately, only a few have survived to this day.

Duncan Fegredo's wild and semi-cubist approach to the cover art serves to illustrate Calypso's insidious and demonic nature, a twisted genie who is able to grant any wish (often with dark and ironic consequences) to the winner of the Twisted Metal contest.

Fegredo's line looks wild and improvised, but the covers like this are very well designed with so many details that are surprising.

I agree! It's very free and cubist in a way. He included a set of a large number of prelims and from the notes that appear on them, it took quite a few attempts at getting the composition of the cover right. He mentions that, rate and a half or not, he was sick of Twisted Metal, haha.
