Description

Goin' full-on DC this week. (Posted a nice WW splash a couple nights ago).

Following the return of Superman after his "death," two of the four 'Reign of The Supermen' characters got their own titles --- Superboy and Steel. I enjoyed reading both of them, so when this cover became available, I was excited to grab it for the nostalgia. And the great image!

Thanks for looking!

Nice! Great poses and I like the dark inks on Steel, as well as that starry space background! And I've always liked the logo for "Steel" - there may be no title design more apt for the actual lettering exhibited :) Congrats, Paul!

Great 90's cover art is always a treat to behold!  Steel became so popular that he got his own movie!

You know, Steel was the only one of the 4 new Supermen I actually hated. For no other reason than, well, didn't the entire design seem a bit racist, or at least very stereotypical? I mean, he looked like some big, hulking black man who spent his days hammering away at railroad tracks in the 1800's. What was up with that?

But I'm SO glad to see this cover because I never paid any attention whatsoever to Steel's solo series and I even forgot he had one, to be perfectly frank. So until I just laid eyes on this piece, I don't think I have any memory of ever having seen Steel in an actual superhero outfit like this, and it looks GREAT! Really, really nice!

Nice cover, but it's so hard not to chuckle at this because all I can think of is that lame Shaq movie.

Nice Paul!  I love that Steel took the time to sculpt him some metal abs!

Batista looks like he's channeling Howard Chaykin on Maxima. She even has his typically squared jaw. Anywho, this is such a 90s cover. It just oozes that style, and I dig it. Totally nostalgic. I liked the extra Supermen spin-off titles that came from the Death of Superman arc. And this is a very nicely done cover. They penciled and inked almost edge to edge, and it's a nice, smooth job. Big congrats!

When I saw this thumbnail and couldn't see who posted, I thought to myself "That's got to be a Paul P cover" and I was right ;) Of course, it is a 90's cover so odds were with me being right. Love your collection Paul - thanks so much for sharing is with all of us CAFers!

Great example of a Steel cover. I've always liked him. He seemed like the underdog among the Supermen. Plus, he gave off that working class vibe wielding that sledge hammer.
