DescriptionThe Real McCoyI really do enjoy proper mash-ups and this pinup comes from the first X-Men Star Trek crossover done in 1996. I was never fully impassioned by Star Trek, like I completely am enveloped by X-Men. But really did always enjoy my older brothers passion for watching the various series. In 2016, I got to do some VFX on set work for STAR TREK BEYOND which definitely got me further interested in that world, as well as earning me some brownie points with my brothers. When I saw this page come up for auction, it more than peaked my interest. First off it’s a great example of Gary Frank’s amazing art and Cam Smith’s beautiful crisp ink stylings. Seeing these two characters interact and play a great game is so much fun. Even though I am a big Beast (Henry McCoy) fan, I think he might be outwitted by Spock’s strategy, maybe a 3:2 victory in Spock’s favor for the championship. I love Spock’s cool collected demeanor against a big furry Beast clinging to the top of his chair deep in thought for his next move. Surely a great vs moment that I would want to watch it all as they strategize and victor is claimed. A great page and piece that brings me much joy to have in my X-Men collection. Social/Sharing |

They are plaing 4D chess, while we're watching the Queen's Gambit for pointers. Love the Tribbles as well. Amazing pin up illustration from back then showing the lively style of Gary Frank. His X-Men Classic work was so impressive then as well which made him a natural to tap for this contribution.

So fun! Best of both worlds! Looks like they're playing for Tribbles and Spock is up two games to one ;)

Whatever they are discussing, you can bet it's way over my head! Nice page!

We've ascertained proximity from the personification of redundant axioms, presupposed upon tautological repetitions, and enhanced our paradoxical paradigms via redundant innovations.

Really strange oneshot and splash art motive from where no comicbook oneshot has gone before..
