Barney Google, Great International Derby Daily, 26 Nov 1931

The Great Internatonal Derby race sequence actually began in this original for November 26, 1931. Here we are told that Barney Google himself will be riding his faithful horse, Spark Plug. Sunshine, Google's jockey, who usually rode Spark Plug in earlier race sequences, will be riding Pony Boy. We also learn, as the horses head for the starting gate, that Sunshine is starving because Google has not let him eat for two days, undoubtedly due to weight considerations.

I have never seen DeBeck use paste-overs in any of his originals other than this one and those for the following two dates. He seems to have changed almost the entire dialogue after he had finished drawing this sequence.
