DescriptionBeautiful transformation page from the final story in this six chapter storyline. Jose Ortiz was Warren Publishing's most prolific artist. The guy was a literal workhorse---and he was very quick. Especially towards Warren's demise, I could imagine the tight deadlines these artists had. It is definitely apparent in many stories that he did that some of the art was pushed thru a bit quicker than other pages. But every page had it's areas that were absolutely amazing. And many pages, like this one, are some of the best this artist did for the character from top to bottom.In comparison to the first Pantha artist at Warren (Auraleon), Ortiz at first seems like a far cry from the initial artist's interpretation of such. Yet, the way it was described to me was Ortiz is more of a "workmanship" style where Auraleon was more of a graceful artistic style. I was told to look at the Ortiz work under the overlay and you will appreciate it more. That statement rings true in my mind. Although I still prefer the former artist (possibly because of the personal nostalgic aspect), I really appreciate Jose's work. But, as with ANY artist/artwork---beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.... Social/Sharing |

Great transformation panel! So much of that detail could still be seen in the large b&w magazine format. The battle is epic mayhem!
