Description

The legendary first one-shot issue ever issued by Marvel, the "Iron Man & Sub-Mariner" title from April, 1968, bridging the continuity from "Tales to Astonish" and "Tales of Suspense," which were continuing as "Hulk" and "Captain America," and the premiere of the new "Iron Man" and "Sub-Mariner" books.

Gene Colan did the art on both stories. This one is from the second 10-pager "Call Him Destiny - Call Him Death" during the original storyline that took on Sub-Mariner's post-WW2 amnesia, and laid the groundwork for the recent "Always an Invader..." story, which was a nice addition.

This is the first chronological appearance of Destiny (Paul Destine was a mentalist who 'felt a summons' and ended up crossing paths with Namor's father, Leonard McKenzie, Captain of the Oracle, when they came across alien tech).

In retrospect, you can see why using 'thought bubble' dialog has fallen out of favor!

Great 2-panel cinematic shot on the bottom half of the page..

Congrats.

I've one page from the SM story and one page from the IM story.

Back in the Dark Ages, the incredible weirdness of this IM/SM book popping up on the newstand in a pre-internet era just cannot be appreciated unless you were ~10-12 years old when this stuff was coming out.

Great page! To get an action scene from that classic issue is pretty amazing. The poses are fantastic, and the sense of danger for the Avenging Son is palpable. Congrats!
