Description

I absolutely loved these two pages while reading this one-shot Immortal Hulk story and immediately knew I had to add them to my collection. Very seldom are two sequential pages my top targets from a single book but these immediately shot to the top of my want list.

I wasn't too familiar with Declan Shalvey's work until it was announced he'd be writing, penciling and inking this book and needless to say, I became a big fan after reading it. These two pages highlight Bruce's desperation to rid himself of the curse that is Hulk and the futility of it all, all wrapped up within the story with a paradoxical title. Where the main title explores body horror, the numerous ways we can tear Hulk apart just to watch him put himself back together and immortality as a position of strength, Declan Shalvey flips the coin and shows us how it's tortured Banner and his numerous attempts to end it all.

You'll have to pardon my high school AP Lit analysis of the art and story but in a collection that consists mainly of nostalgia and love of comic art, these two wonderful pages really stuck with me.

This is why we love the Hulk. That very real angst because of his situation. I really dig the deep dive into Banner's/Hulk's psyche in this title. Some of my favorite stories are with Doc Samson, where they really got into the nitty gritty of character development. Great write-up (and score). Congrats!

Thank you! Totally agreed. Love the smashing (of course) but have always loved his character development.

Shalvey really is a great storyteller and you picked up an equally great example in this sequence!  Also love his grey tone accents.  Congrats, T!
