DescriptionOK, this is probably not that relevant to fellow CAFers, but this page concludes a 23-year journey. When I started collecting, I decided I wanted to have at least one example by all my favourite Marvel artists. I started with splashes and covers, but over time escalating prices had me include panel pages as well, that I have come to fully appreciate. Perez was my missing artist, the main reason being that I really wanted one example from a handful of issues inked by Marcos. And those pages are quite hard to come by.Anyway, I was finally able to secure a great example. All-action page from a strong issue. Several Avengers, a great typical Bronze Age "punch panel", some Perez machinery, a bit of Vision - Wonder Man soap, and a great panel with Scarlet Witch striking with her power. Marcos' inks are particularly sharp on this page, adding a lot of texture and depth. Many many thanks to Philip for agreeing parting with this page. It cost me a bit, but this time I feel the trade was a "win win" Social/Sharing |

Every panel is a highlight panel! It's like Perez has 4 hands to draw with so much detail in each one. The 3rd and last panel are particularly tight! That middle panel is a power packed extravaganza!

It was truly a WIN, WIN, Carlo. It is not often that two people can say and can write that to each other. As you wrote to me, the Marcos inks make this page truly stand out. One has to look only at the backgrounds to see how he worked his magic on top of Perez's pencils. It is so enhanced by the strike from the Grim Reaper onto the Beast in that middle panel. To paraphrase Shooter, 'you are not even worth the flat of my blade for killing, dolt'. Shooter, Perez, and Marcos were truly a great creative team, and I hope that you enjoy this page for a long time.

what can i say? a great page from the high point of the perez/marcos run on the book. great story, great characters, great art. i know you wanted something like this for a long time! congratulations to you and philip.

I'm so so happy that you realized this collecting goal, and what a page! I love Perez's Beast, and having him featured in four panels is so cool. Then of course that last panel is pure magic. Thanks for sharing! (And it's time for a new 23-year goal I guess).

You hit your goal in style! Avengers battling the Reaper, Perez and Marcos, and onomatopoeia named after the next Marvel movie baddie. All signs and portents point to awesome! Big congrats on both an awesome page, and finishing a major collecting goal. A great accomplishment!

Great page from one of my Favorite Perez Avengers issues! The Perez/ Marcos team on Avengers were among the Best teams in comics!

Congratulations on meeting your collecting goal, with a really wonderful page. This was at a point when Perez was really gaining mastery I think...and also the page is critically advancing the subplot of the Wonderman's origin.
