DescriptionDeath is the Zagnut!Haha, sorry, the name Zuggernaut just makes me think of a Zagnut candy bar. Which reminds me of the movie Beetlejuice, where Michael Keaton holds up a Zagnut to tempt a fly into becoming his snack. Love that movie. ANYWAY ... I never really read Firestorm comics, but I knew a bit about the character, and I really liked this image. Plus, the character had just been introduced on the TV show "The Flash," and I liked how Victor Garber (who I met once in an airport) and Franz Drameth portrayed the dual being. I have enjoyed watching the character grow in "Legends of Tomorrow" as well. And hey, a 1st appearance! Even though it was an obvious play on the Marvel character 'Juggernaut.' The Zuggernaut came to Earth as an encephalopod housed within a meteorite cocoon. It is able to physically merge its anatomy with that of a human being, creating a unique biological construct. The Zuggernaut could also separate itself from its host at will, returning to its native form. It also has energy protection & limited telepathic abilities, as well as invulnerability, super-human strength, and can leap a distance of several miles from a standing position. I think with all that going for it, it's no wonder the cover to this comic book reads "Death is the Zuggernaut!" Social/Sharing |

I haven't read it either, and no longer follow the TV Flash. But it is a striking cover. Congrats.

Do you know who I am? I'm the Zuggernaut...
Joe Brozowski AKA JJ Birch did some great work for DC in the mid to late 80's. The composition of these two are what sells the cover and they are posed dramaticly to convey the sense of danger for Firestorm.

WOW! Sweet cover! I always thought that Firestorm had such a cool looking character design and powers. I think maybe he was a little before his time. Awesome too that its a first appearance issue! Congrats man!

I have a Firestorm splash myself. This is such a great cover. You don't normally see a cool first appearance on a cover as this one is. Congrats!!!

Come on you guys! Really?! None of you ever read any Firestorm comics? I LOVE Firestorm! Cool name, cool look, a decent 5 issue run in the late 70's and quite a fun series in 1983! Cool beans, Paul!

Better change your name to Zuggy or just Z! Juggernaut doesn't like no name imitators!

A Zuggernaut vs Juggernaut story in the DC vs Marvel crossover must have been left on the cutting floor - the name alone would have been worth admission! I don't remember Zuggernaut but remember Firestorm well - now I am interested to read this ish! Congrats - thanks for posting!

"Hey, c'mere. Have a little bite. Something to gnosh?""Help me, help, me, help meeeee..." BRAAAAP! That's one of my very favorite movies, and I HAD THE SAME THOUGHT. Heh. The disturbing choice to make the fly talk and plead was pure Burton genius. This is a very sweet Firestorm cover (Listen to Rubén, guys. Read some Firestorm! :)), but I chose to use my time here on Beetlejuice. Congrats on a great cover!

Very cool. Personally Firestorm is one of my favorite DC characters, but that has a lot to do with the Super Powers figure and my memory of that as a kid. Great cover pick up here, there aren't that many of these really. Congrats!

Superb cover! One of those captivating how-will-he-survive-this images.
