DescriptionThis is a wonderful piece of specialty artwork by the great Shel Dorf, a legendary figure in the early days of comic fandom, who I believe was one of the founders of the San Diego Comic Con. It features Dick Tracy's kid sidekick sitting on top of the legendary detective's shoulders, proclaiming "HEY TRACY! LET'S GO OVER TO MATT MASTERSON'S! HE'S GOT DA BEST COLLECTION OF YOUR ORIGINAL ART! 'COURSE IT AINT AS GOOD AS OUR OWN CHET'S, - BUT IT'S STILL GREAT!" It is signed and dated in the bottom right corner. It is done in the shape of a comic strip on a piece of thick bristol board measuring approximately 7 3/4" by 16". It was folded down the middle at one point (as many newspaper strips are during shipping), so it has a heavy fold line there. I don't know that it was ever published, but there is a note written on the back that says "PRINT ON JEM METAL (HEH, HEH)". I don't know the meaning of the reference, so if anyone does happen to know whether this ever saw print anywhere, please let me know.Social/Sharing |
