Description

Michael Kaluta is one of those artists I've long admired, but never picked up anything by. I've watched a number of pieces in the last year, but never felt inspired to jump on one until this came along.

A trippy splash of Harley and Ivy eating sushi in a roller derby injury-induced fever dream wasn't exactly on my want list, but when I saw this I knew I needed it on my wall. I don't claim to understand it, but it's a lot of fun to look at.

Ka-loo-ta!  Imaginative voodoo that covers fantasy illustration in Kaluta's wild maze like splash signifying Harley and Ivy's complex relationship.

This is an interesting one.  In most cases, when it comes to comic art, the majority of us prefer the b&w originals to the published colored  pages.  In this particular case, I'm split between the two.  For very different reasons.  I like the colored page because it helps seperate and identify the different elements in the piece.  At the same time, I love how all the swirling pieces blend together in the b&w.  I love the cats at the bottom and the two characters feeding each other with chopsticks at the top.

In person, it's a lot easier to read in BW. (Because, bigger.) But that's exactly why I included the color image. Either way, it's not a quick read. It forces you to spend some time with it.
