DescriptionText from auction description: Superman swoops in to rescue a mother and child but sends an uncharacteristic side-eye when the child refers to him as Captain Tomorrow on this page from the anthology issue. Ink over graphite on DC Bristol board with an image area of 10.5" x 16".It's the 3rd page of the second story in the book. I have never been a big DC guy but this McLeod on Superman was something that caught my nostalgic eye. I met Bob McLeod at my very first comic convention, in Montreal in 1987. I'm not the type to get intimidated by known people but it really struck me as I stood there, as a teenager dreaming of a career drawing for Marvel, that this man had co-created the New Mutants. In my mind, those characters were to flow into the X-Men and be a core part of the mutant universe for decades. The thought of creating something like that actually filled me with a touch of awe. As I was listening (way more than talking) to the 3 Artists attending I saw some doing drawings for people, so I asked Bob if he'd draw me a doodle with his autograph. I didn't know who to ask for so just told him to draw his favourite character... and much to my Marvel-loving surprise he drew a little bust of Superman. Watching him draw it you could tell as well that he liked the character and had drawn him loads. I was too much of an idiot to take good care of those convention sketches... so I thought it would be good to pair that McLeod Superman sketch with a nice published buddy page. Superman by McLeod had that classic look with the clean finish. A pitch perfect balance of detail and action without a hair out of place. The facial exressions are on point as Superman is unfazed by being mistakenly identified by the kid.

IMO McLeod's Superman is just as timeless and iconic as Byrne's ! Fantastic page from a great short story !
