Etched in like on cave walls by the maestro of storytelling, these gripping scenes show the plight of poor Tony. Every panel cascades down showing his descent.
Love the big shapes and atmospherics on this dynamic page!
The Prehistoric Avengers is such an amazing concept. I'd love to see this as a permanent title going forward. Zaffino has such a fantastic style, that's out of focus but so wonderfully detailed and inked, too. I really dig the artists who create that way, it makes for great, gritty storytelling. Zaffino had some great ideas and work on this arc. Congrats!
Such a great page from a really good issue. Zaff can do no wrong! Huge congrats!
That Odin is awesome!
At this point, he probably as good a his father ever was, and thankfully a little more prolific. Nice stuff!
Your awesome taste is on full display here, Rick (as per usual)... Gorgeous page - wowzers... It was a treat to see Gerardo illustrate this story and lean into the fun concept of the BCAvengers. Poor Tony is having a "day", and I love the skewed panels, harsh shading, and jumpy camera movement to underscore the chaos and unrelenting assault. The negative space in the top panel (to convey the Ghost Mammoth's hellfire) is wicked cool... and there's a sentence I was not expecting to type when I got up this morning, so - win. The exaggerated size of Hulk's arm in the second panel (along with the "sketchy" nature of the drawing) gives a frighteningly convincing illusion of movement and force (poor Tony!) - an awesome "trick" of the trade. Add to that the backlighting on Iron Man's gauntlet in the bottom panel (a reprise of panel 1... POOR TONY!!) and you have a gorgeously compelling piece full of action and beautiful illustrative technique and style. Congrats, Rick - great pick up!
If CAF awarded a Pulitzer Prize for best commentor, you'd definitely be a contender Jason! Thank you!
Love that scratchy ink rendering! I gotta get myself a Zaffino soon. Yes...he is officially on the list :) Congrats!
Super memorable page from one of the best artists working today!
Great looking page! I need to pick this up for a read! Congratulations!
