Description
Dr. Strange by Barry Windsor Smith with smooth Dan Adkins inks, from Marvel Premiere 3, July 1972 just after Conan 15 and before BWS came back to do Conan 19.

This page has an abundance of Dr. Strange - his astral projection and his body are on this page 13 times.

I have wanted a Marvel Premiere 3 page for many years so pretty cool to add one to the collection

13 times! What a number. Congrats on this wonderful and Mystic page!

The panel construction of the page is really strange. I do not believe I have ever seen a 6  on top and 4 on bottom construction. Very unusual.

The linework on this page is really gorgeous! What a great pickup! Huge congrats!

Looks so timeless.  Strange's psychedelic trip works to set off the minefields of unimaginable paralyzing sensory overload.  This distortion of reality leads to the plot point that something has taken over his body and is preventing his return to our plane of existence.

BWS worked in so many details in virtually every panel,  yet none of them clutter his clear storytelling. And give Dan Adkins his due. His inking on this page is superb.

I suppose it might seem odd to refer to Barry's MP issues as hidden gems, but they sort of are.  So much focus was (and has been) given to his iconic Conan run, that the MP work was overshadowed (or even outright overlooked).  If I had any brains (which many doubt), I would follow your lead and try to track down a nice MP example instead of pining away for a Conan page that will probably never come.  Barry did these MP issues just as he was peaking on Conan, so all the rawness and lack of discipline evident in the earliest Conan issues are gone.  This is prime 70's BWS.  An excellent choice and an excellent acquisition.  Congratulations!

Fabulous page! Adkins does such a good job on BWS, and the angles are so cleverly chosen to emphasise the body-mirroring and interface between the real and astral planes. Gorgeous!

Beautiful BWS page. Always preferred his non-Conan work. Huge congrats!

Wonderful example. Adkins was less overpowering than Wood.

Outstanding page from Barrys strongest period with beautiful panel design and content - Doc's astral body adventures always were the highlight of this Marvel character and Adkins thin lined inks never fail to impress !

Frankly, one issue only (well, two if you count MP4's weird mix of BWS and Frank Brunner...) is a shame! For, when you see this page, it's pretty clear he was an ideal artist for Dr Strange!
