I heard if you use the red cross symbol it is against the Geneva Convention, so maybe Finlay had to make the changes from the prelim.

Come on, Marcus. Thats pretty unlikely. The Geneva Convention is a joke, as shown by innumerable atrocities around the world, whose perpetrators have never been punished. Do you really believe that a publisher would care? Its very interesting in that I can see why the publisher asked for changes, as the end composition is more dynamic and eye catching.

A more recent example of this was the Blink 182 album Enema of the State from 1999. You will see a version with and without the red cross on the nurse's hat.
In a Reddit AMA on June 2, 2013, Blink 182 bassist Mark Hoppus claimed that the American Red Cross pressured the band to remove the red cross from their artwork, stating that if they did not, they would be in violation of the Geneva Conventions. The band complied and, thus, the third iteration of the album cover features a plain white nurse's hat.

Blink 182 are not insane zealots and psychopaths...They are wusses. Sued by the red cross? Hilarious. Whatever happened to rebelious music? Rock and rolled over. So much for free speech and freedom of expression. I would have told them to spin on it.
