A rare and legendary work by two of the greatest avant-garde creators of the comics teamed up together.  Alan Moore was at his peak of success and had the freedom to tell any story he wanted.  Sienkiewicz was established as a premiere painter of the genre. What happened to this project is still stuff of legend.  This Sienkiewicz painting shows the approach and intensity it took to process and adapt Moore's script which probably had copious notes and layouts.  The 12 panel grid was standard, but the paintings within are ahead of their time by 30 years.  You can finally see these types of paitings in comics making it to the top of critics' choice in today's environment.
