DescriptionMagneto sketch on a Hero Initiative coaster by Art Baltazar. At C2E2 2020 in Chicago, IL I attended a Hero Initiative "shindig" with a buddy of mine where donations would give you a quick sketch on a coaster done live at the table from the artist's who were there. We both in a randomized drawing, pulled different artists (he drew Art, and I drew Mike Perkins), and at the last minute we decided to switch/exchange draws just to keep the fun going. He ended up with a pretty sweet Nightwing sketch by Perkins on his coaster and I ended up with this Magneto sketch by Art B on mine. I wasn't very familiar with his work honestly so I was a little caught off guard at first but having looked more into his work I suppose it is consistent but not really my normal kind of thing if I'm honest. Still pretty cool as it was all for a great cause and it was a super fun event with great memories! Social/Sharing |

I would not have given up my Perkins for Balthazar, but as you found out later, this is actually what I would've expected from him as a quick sketch on a coaster, give his style. If you know his stuff, this is a pretty fun little piece!

Yeah...i had at least heard of Mike at the time...but my friend (George / Dee Runk Comics) had not heard of Art, and neither had I...so we did the switcharoo thing...still cool to have an example from Art...and now i have 2 from Mike anyway :)

Listen, you did a nice thing for George and karma made you pay for that decision. But then you got the Prof X that is mesmerizing all of us and that makes up for it. Then you got the cool Wizard piece, and well, George now only has a coaster! A cool looking coaster sketch perhaps, yes, but nowhere near the level of 2 killer, finished illustrations! 😍
