The experience will hit you with tense action and a stalemate standoff. Lapham's artwork is dredging up the dark and seedy places in your mind to fill in the gaps.
What a page and congrats on the sequence. The storytelling is so great. The bottom two panels work so well. Great idea to split a single panel into two beats. Imagine it as a single. It reads much as two panels. Genius.
Thanks for the comment! Lapham clearly changed his mind about panel placement/order with these three pages after he initially drew them. The top half of this page was pasted in on top of the board, as were each of the two tiers at the bottom. I don't know if that's because he initially had the big panel in the middle of this page, or if he moved one or more of them from an adjacent page. Given that the page number is wrong on the following page, it makes me think the panel swapping went between pages.
A chaotic action page but it manages to lead the eye extremely well. Congrats on these! :)
Very nice. Excellent sequence from this issue. Why comic art is meant to be seen. Love the stand off at the bottom. Congrats.
Such a cool sequence and fascinating to see his editing process at work. That kind of process stuff is giving me the urge to pick up some pages myself, especially with all the sales he runs. Great pick up!
