DescriptionA new commission for All-Star August, art by Peter Clinton, adapted from Jerry Ordway's cover to Archie Comics' "New Crusaders: Legacy" collection.I see this as the cover for the 40th anniversary of the All-Star Squadron collection which we really *should* have had this year - with a new story showing Michael Holt telling some of the new Justice Society recruits some of the All-Star Squadron's wartime adventures (in my head, they'd be issue #4, by Buckler and Ordway; #18, by Gonzales and Hoberg; #19-26 and Annual #2, all by Ordway; and #38-40, by Hoberg and others). (Oh, and I assume that Peter would have been the artist on the new material...) I'll confess that I'm not the biggest fan of Geoff Johns' expansion team version of the Justice Society (it always seemed to me to include too many characters who, while they may have had a heroic legacy, had no real connection to the JSA) - but since the original cover features a monkey, it made sense to use Cyclone's pet monkey, which led to using Cyclone herself, and then picking some other characters from the new intake - Damage, Judomaster, the new Amazing Man and Mr America - who had a connection to the All-Star Squadron. When I started to figure this one out, I wasn't entirely sure whether it would work or not - but Peter pulled it off magnificently, and I have to say it's one of my favourite commissions of the year.
