DescriptionTHANKS JULIUS , I LOVE THIS PAGE!In 1984 I lived next door to a newsagent, my friend lived there, I was their paperboy and more importantly I bought my UK weekly comics from them each Saturday. In March 1984 - Scream was released a new weekly comic to be compared to the recently revived Eagle and of course 2000ad. Scream was the first comic I was invested in from the very beginning which made it a favorite of mine, alas it didn't survive for long on it's own (just 15 issues) however some strips made it through when it merged with Eagle. Monster was one such strip! Pt 1 in Scream #1 was written by a Mr Alan Moore and it told the story of a boy who's father was murdered by something in the attic , we didn't see what that 'something' was until issue #2 this splash is the first time we saw 'the monster' what we discovered over the coming weeks was that he wasn't really a monster but a disabled uncle who had been locked away for fear of besmirching the family name ( Goonies= Sloth ! ) who had tried to escape and killed his brother in a total accident, the boy Kenny feels sorry for his uncle and helps him go on the run all over the UK to avoid him being arrested. Rebellion have collected the strip as a GN and it's well worth a read if you get the chance. Social/Sharing |

... and nothing could prepare the reader for Redondo's talent for the grotesque. The sequence of the boy's growing sense of horror is terrific.

Great creativity of the splash and adding suspense to the old school touch of horror! Inspired work by Redondo who shows a sense for the dramatic with this wonderfully staged shocking reveal.
