DescriptionI’ve been wanting a piece from Gerald to add to my collection but the timing never seemed to work out. Then I watched the Kirbys Comic Art crew do a YouTube livestream during Comic Art Live and saw Gerald start to put this together and it just grabbed me. A true mixed media piece with inks, watercolor and prisma color pencil. In my eyes, it evokes some of the best movie poster qualities dating back to the heist/spy flicks of the 60s and 70s. Particularly love the choices he made depicting not just the radar sense itself but the way it emanates from DD’s head. I know this tune is over-played by collectors everywhere so dare I play it too? Ah hell…why not? SHOULD BE A COVER!! Extremely stoked to have this in my collection! Social/Sharing |

WOW! Eranga you have to be jacked to have this in your collection. Incredible, graphic and arresting work.

Thanks, dude...I really am! All of your adjectives are spot-on...I'm glad I waited (inadvertently) till the right piece fell in my lap!

I'll echo Chris in complimenting the design and layout of this piece. Parel is super talented and I feel like he channeled a touch of Sienkiewicz in spots.

Totally agree man! You can definitely see the spirit of Sienkiewicz shine through here. It's a little more experimental for Parel but I. Am. Here. For. It.

Should be a cover! Fine to note when it's true! I got a Ruan DD piece I feel the same about :) Love the overall composition and how the radar sense is rendered. That shadow work between the Matt head shot and DD figure...next level. Congrats, E!

Thanks, brother! And I've seen your Ruan DD...by "seen" I mean just drooled at and/or went green with envy. No question that's a cover.

Nice one! The radar sense takes the place of the sniper target bullseye pattern and the red on DD's head is a splash of blood from the shot taken.

Fantastic! Love the 2D graphic look of the shadows and radar effect. The pose is great and I really like the type he went for in that intense realistic portrait! Parel's work has such a unique feel to it

Definitely! Matt's portrait is definitely rely more in the realistic vein when compared to DD who is slightly more...comic-booky? Parel's work has been evolving a lot since he started jumping into more traditional work.

Thanks, David! I'm collecting votes in the comments regarding the cover treatment and then sending it to Annabel :)
