Description

I love classic Wrightson art and this was a nice score recently from Heritage. I'm just going to include the auction description for the details.

This page from the story "National Lampoon's Class Reunion" has the same feel and vibe as Wrightson's work on the Creepshow adaptation, which was created in 1982 as well. Both were heavily influenced by the work of "Ghastly" Graham Ingles from the EC Comics of the 1950s. The page was colored in mixed media by Michele Robinson (as Michele Wrightson). Ink and mixed media color over graphite on illustration board with an image area of 13.5" x 18.5". In Excellent condition.

The colors are an achievement in themselves as the figures are lit to expose true emotions of fear and madness.

This is a great page from this very specific period on Wrightson's artistic journey. Also, since he did work for National Lampoon around this time, it is amusing that a story entitled "National Lampoon's Class Reunion" was printed in Heavy Metal.
