Nice to see some of the Bollands, whose whereabouts I puzzled over, surfacing. The pages involving Dredds fight with Fergee....Dream stuff.
Just as he would put jewelry and riches upon a scene with kings and queens, Bolland would heap the details that would make these underground characters shine true to themselves. Very impressive use of the shadows and darkness of the underground world to make every grotesque face pop off the page. It is carefully crafted to make this frightful scene the most elegant it can be.
Masterful page. If you have one of his Judge Dredd pages in your collection it just bumps up your cool score by infinity. Love it Sam.
Great title page, and a great Fergee page! The flies are really visible here, and so much effort has gone into this beauty. The detailing on the grotesque faces is spectacular, and so reminiscent of Bollands Forbidden Planet posters. Dredd makes an appearance too!
