DescriptionIt took a year and a half on Eduardo’s waitlist before my number was called but once we decided on the character, this bad boy was in my hands a little over 2 weeks later.While on his waitlist, I had waffled on character choice going between Daredevil and Punisher to keep with the gritty, street-level characters he’s famous for. Ultimately I decided one of the joys of commission work is the chance to see an artist work on a character that’s a little outside his wheelhouse. Cable fit the bill and as a bonus, he carries 100 Bullets with him on a slow Tuesday. In this particular case, it was a slam dunk and then some! The classic Risso traits are present here - the bold shadows and atmospheric background. In addition there are a few tricks I was pleasantly surprised by - notably the use of black and white spatter to add texture to the image. It’s safe to say I’m thrilled with this piece! Even in the future old people still love prune juice. Who knows perhaps they have prune capsules? Mmmm. Prune capsules.

Killer piece! You went with the right choice. Love his use of shadow throughout, and the gritty kind of style of course suits Cable perfectly. Congrats, E!

You can tell that Cable is on his last leg to show his desperate state. A small gun. One pouch left. This Cable would have to get through this victoriously with only his guts. Risso only equips him with realistic killing methods, but made more deadly with an oversized grizzled attitude!

Ha! Astute observation as always re: pouch quantity, Marcus! And yes, this definitely feels very much like Cable: The End.

If you had asked me yesterday to name ten artists who I'd like to see tackle Cable, I don't think Risso would have crossed my mind. Today, after seeing this piece, I feel like Risso and Cable are the perfect match.

Man...you nailed it, Michael! I had a feeling it could be a good match but no way was I expecting this. Like I mentioned to Marcus, a "Cable: The End" miniseries would seem like a match made in heaven based on this.

Not the character I would've thought of going with for Risso but it turned out to be an absolute home run. I'd say it was worth the wait. Congratulations!
