Ario drew me this sweet piece of Lina Soh as an extra throw in piece, an awesome package of art I received from him awhile back from his work on the Star Wars: The High Republic comic book for Marvel Comics, where he is the main penciller/primary artist in the series written by Cavan Scott. I'll post the published page as well as the prelims on the next post, but I wanted to start with this one just because I really dig it. It's also the first standalone illustration of the character for a fan/client he's ever done and he is the one responsible for the character design.

If you aren't familiar with Lina Soh and/or The High Republic era/storyline, it's from an era 200 years prior to Episode I The Phantom Menace, where Jedi are aplenty and the protectors of the Galaxy at large while it expands, primarily in peace. But then things go awry with galaxy wide disasters, new threats/enemies, and all sorts of epic Jedi action/wisdom/philosophy, intrigue, politics, and drama in-between. I've been throughly enjoying all the novels and comics that have been released so far.

Chancellor Lina Soh is essentially the key diplomatic figurehead and political leader of The Galactic Republic during this time/set of stories. She is a very strong character in the books especially and has a certain presence in a room or speaking amongst others and is popular throughout the galaxy. Ario drew her first appearance in The High Republic #1 (which I also picked up) and was responsible for her visual look - as she was never depicted in the any of the canon novels she was in prior.

I love having this as an accompaniment piece to her first appearance page both done by Ario who is a straight badass artist from Indonesia.

The Star Wars design team sure loves to emphasize tall necks in their humanoid female characters with the fashion choices made for them.
