DescriptionTwo Great Talents involved in this one. I am a big admirer of the skill of baseball players. A sport that is really hard to do well. (you don't always have to be in perfect shape but you HAVE TO EXECUTE when called at a split second to do so - as I said, very hard at a high level), The best ones are kind of super....The first talent here is the GREAT Willie Mays. Phenomenal Right-Handed Power Hitter, Prolific Base Stealer, Perennial Gold Glover - MLB career 1951-1973 w/the NY and SF Giants and finally the Mets. Another great, but very different, talent is Michael Lark. To me, Michael Lark channels a particular stylistic combination of two of the old time geniuses of comic art: Alex Toth and Hal Foster. His work on Batman Nine lives, Gotham Central and Daredevil and Image's Lazarus was ALL exemplary. Thank you again Mark Hay and Mr. Lark for making this beautiful commission to me possible. You and Michael have always been reliable. Social/Sharing |

New York Journal American sportswriter Barney Kremenko said that in Mays' rookie season, the reticent Mays "would blurt 'Say who,' 'Say what,' 'Say where,' 'Say hey.' In my paper, I tabbed him the 'Say Hey Kid.' It stuck."
A six tool player that added intelligence to his physical skills to approach the game like an on field coach.
