Description

This commission was a long time coming, so much so only Hal was part of the original idea. Upon hearing he news of Chuck Yeager's passing, I found myself thinking of my favorite GL moment. In New Frontiers, a young Hal meets Yeager- a moment that my 2 favorite heroes meet. Short of owning the page itself, I wished I could have had the chance of Darwin re-imaging the meeting in a commission. It occurred to me, Walt would also be ideal choice to have such a piece. I was fortunate enough, that he had not yet begun work on my original idea. A few emails later, Walt was more than willing to bring my idea to light.

I read recently Walt once again stopped taking commissions. I am truly honored and very fortunate to have this piece.

The connection to Yeager is that Hal is supposed to be based off his test pilot persona daring to risk his life to fly faster than anyone before. Basically what made Darwyn Cooke so fond of the character.

What a team-up this would have made! Hal and Chuck Yeager in Glamorous Glennis, flying side by side into action! And Walt did an incredible job on this commission! Congrats a truly grail level piece of art in your collection. Somewhere, Darwyn Cooke is smiling.
