DescriptionCLICK HERE FOR AUCTION LISTING!13x19" artboard features pen and ink original art for Cave Girl #13, published by Magazine Enterprises 1954. Art is by Bob Powell (1916-1967), a comic artist known for his work during the Golden Age of comics, including Sheena, Queen of the Jungle and Mr. Mystic. Powell also did the pencil art for the iconic bubble gum trading card series Mars Attacks. Art is for page 2 of The Mau Mau Killers! story and features seven panels, showing how people guarded themselves against Mau Mau Terrorism, referencing the actual Mau Mau Uprising, a 1952-1960 war in the British Kenya Colony between the Kenya Land and Freedom Army (KLFA), aka Mau Mau, and the British authorities. One panel shows Mau Mau killer lifting severed head. Another panel shows outline of Africa w/the three primary Mau Mau weapons shown. Last panel shows Cave Girl spotting runaway wagon. Top margin has inked title and issue/page numbers. Art remains clean and Exc. Social/Sharing |
