Description

For this piece, I have always preferred the Golden Age trade dress for DETECTIVE COMICS, so I suggested that Chris use the DETECTIVE #37 trade dress style, with a 10 cent price, #37 became #402, and MARCH, 1940 became AUGUST 1970. I also suggested removing the title to the story to leave room for the large Golden Age trade dress.

Back in the days when I was most excited about Neal Adams drawing Batman, I always had a sense that Adams was returning Batman to his roots as a scary creature of the night, so I felt using the Golden Age trade dress was a perfect fit. Adams of course also brought a much great refinement to his art than what we saw on Batman during the Golden Age (for the most part).
With Chris' recreation I am now able to see that Golden Age presence with Adams' art!

The recreation is 11" x 17".

Looks great in black and white! It may not retain the mood if they colored the logo traditionally, but the Neal Adams feel is all over it!
