DescriptionI’m not going to pretend that I completely understand the concept behind Frank Castle being the Cosmic Ghost Rider, but I’ll do my best to explain what’s going on in these pages and provide a little backstory (please feel free to correct me).Frank Castle died on earth and can’t handle the fact that his “punishing” days are over. Mephisto agrees to let him punish as the Ghost Rider in exchange for his soul to which Frank agrees. Galactus likes this new Frank Castle, Punisher/Ghost Rider, and wants to use him as his new herald…thus, the “Cosmic” Ghost Rider is born… However, in these pages, we will deal with the fact that Frank Castle has grown tired of being essentially immortal and makes an illegitimate deal with the Cosmic King to get his soul back and returns to his human form thus losing the Ghost Rider piece of the name but keeping the Cosmic aspect from Galactus. Mephisto is pissed and takes Frank’s new friend, Cammie, to Hell in exchange for Frank’s ‘violation’ of their terms. Human Frank then plunges into hell to save Cammie, which we know can’t go well? With no Ghost Rider power, it seems as though he will perish…yet, there is still a cosmic power underneath which will be revealed as… Frank Castle… “Cosmic Punisher”. It’s a cool “Birth Page” that was quickly undone. Haha. I love page three where we see the Punisher on a horse as a throwback to the original Ghost Rider. Between the artwork and your description of the story, I now need to check this story out. It sounds delightfully crazy.

Great minds, Johnny :) I actually thought about reaching out to Cadence about this very page after I had picked up a couple others from issues 1 and 3. Part of me regrets I didn't but even more so I'm glad to see it displayed here in your gallery! Love the energy and depth in that top splashy panel. It looked great published but looks even better in good ol' OA B&W! Inks are outstanding, especially that spatter effect on the horse in panel 2. Congrats!

That's a huge compliment, knowing that it appealed to you as well. I think you have great taste and whenever I'm on the same page as KG, then I'm in the right place :)

Killer top panel. I love the allusions to the original, western Ghost Rider.

very cool page! I'm not hugely knowledgable on the character either so thanks for the write up. Of the 3 page sequence you posted this one is my fav!

Hep's obviously charging full speed ahead here; not waiting around for anyone who doesn't have your great summary to guide them... :) LOVE Frank's steed in panel one - beautiful, incredible inking there - and the energy flying around and off this thing is indeed cosmic. Awesome pick up, Johnny! Congrats!
