I’m super happy to add an Alex Raymond original to my collection! Raymond’s beautiful inking is really something to behold in person and I added some pics of the printed strip so you can see how the printers would obliterate the delicate line work in the engraving process for fear that the incredibly thin line lines would be lost while printing on coarse newsprint. I was reminded of the great illustrator Albert Dorne’s work in the expressive way Raymond depicts Rip’s mitts in panel 1 and 2. I’d like to say this won’t be my last Raymond original however with the way prices are now you never know but at some point I would like a nice example of the masterful way Raymond would handle patterns on clothing but for now I’m just ecstatic to have this piece in my collection.

You have to hand it to him, this strip deserves a hand of applause as it has Raymond's handiwork all over it.

Thanks! I definitely wanted to jump on anything under a grand but it really felt like a deal when that single panel sold for 5 grand the next week 😆 Prices are all over the place.

Congrats on joining the Raymond club...I like that! You are definitely right about Raymond's skill in at rendering clothing texture, which is what attracted me initially about the one I bought. What stands out for me in this one that you've gotten is the incredibly expressive depictions of hands in panels one and two. Nice!

Exquisite daily! Congratulations on landing one of these --- I've been several times on RK but so far I've come up short. The draftsmanship and inking are so good
