Untitled (Woman) pencil illustration by Zu Orzu.

Not quite sure how to categorize this piece as it is not comic book related in any way, but this pencil illustration was in a batch of pieces that Zu brought with her to NYCC and I really enjoyed this one so I grabbed it.

After talking to her about it I learned that it has no official title but was done during the COVID-19 lockdown period of 2020 in Singapore (where she lives) when she was in a darker head space (as were many of us) and did a series of similar pieces.

Wish it was easier to scan pencils but I tried.

Nicely done showing the state of mind in our harried world. Some days a catharsis would be neccesary and expressed in tears or in artwork.

Thanks, Fisch. You are right it does really exude sadness. very beautiful to look at, scan doesn't do it justice (go to OA collector phrase lol). I had to add a sad Elliott Smith song choice to accompany.

Maybe it's the sadness of losing 90% of your family to Covid -19, as happened to some people? There's beauty in this sadness, though.
